About Costa Blanca
The fabulous Costa Blanca coastline, which stretches from Valencia in the north to Murcia in the south has over 100 km of beaches many of which have won the prestigious "blue flag" award in their time. The Valencia region boasts a wide variety of sporting facilities. The main two are golf and sailing, both of which are well catered for.
The whole area is steeped in history, as evidenced in the many fiestas, or festivals, which number over 400 and are held throughout the year.
The Costa Blanca is so much more than sun, sea and sangria. Twenty minutes from its glistening beaches brings you to orchards of oranges and lemons, mountainside villas and small private estates. Further inland is a world of olive groves and elegant almond trees amongst which sit tiny villages of ancient cottages. Stately farmhouses rise out of vineyards that produce the world famous wines of Alicante.
Inland Costa Blanca is a world away from the bright and bustling coast line. The region is second only to Switzerland for the splendor of its mountains. Lakes, towering cascades, naturally heated pools, forests, upland valleys decorated in a patchwork of orange, lemon, olive and almond groves, vineyards and swaying fields of sunflowers offer a stunning contrast to the coastal zone. An area largely undiscovered by the visitor to Spain.
During the last decade inland Costa Blanca has welcomed an increasing number of people seeking a gentler, more peaceful way of life but still only a thirty-minute drive from the pleasures of sea and sand – the sun is everywhere.
