Buying a property in Spain you need an NIE number!!

As property specialists in the Costa Blanca we are often asked by clients about NIE numbers. This is an important issue for non-Spanish residents in Spain. If you are serious about buying a property in the Costa Blanca you really will need your own number.

The NIE acts as an identification number for foreigners in Spain. You will need not only to buy a Spanish property but also for a range of important business processes. These include selling or buying a car, starting a business and paying tax.
You really won’t be able to get far in Spain without one.

You can apply for an NIE number at the Spanish Embassy or a some police stations in Spain. You can apply for this either in person with a power of attorney.

A power of attorney means that you authorise a solicitor to apply for this on your behalf. This means that you can have this matters dealt with while you are at home. Most if not all solicitor will charge for this but it can save you some time.
